Would you like to try your first move on ice after seeing the pictures of the “Queen of the Ice”, Yuna Kim? Today, we are going to talk about the most basic move: swizzles.
Remember the starting position we talked about last time? You need to bend your knees slightly, lift your arms to about shoulder height, keep your back straight, and look straight ahead! For forward swizzles, you need to lean forward a bit, and start with your heels together, toes pointing outward.
Push out using your thigh muscles and as soon as your feet get slightly wider than the shoulder width (don’t let your feet go too far apart), pull your toes and legs back in, using your inner thigh muscles. Squeeze your legs together until your toes touch.
When you are comfortable with one swizzle, try doing multiple swizzles in a row. You can also try “forward alternating half swizzle pumps” by alternating your feet: one foot swizzles while the other stays still. (Edited by Skw)
